Time is running out. With only 5 days left for EU nationals to take advantage of the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), it is important that you do this immediately so that you can continue to live and work legally in the UK. Although the UK government has provided concessions for EU nationals who have had to return home and leave the UK on a temporary basis due to the pandemic, EU nationals should still register on the EUSS before 30th June 2021.

From 1st July 2021, all European Economic Area (EEA) nationals must provide evidence that you have a valid right to work in the UK, either by holding a BRP card or that you have registered on the EU Settlement Scheme, and obtained either Settled Status or Pre-Settled Scheme. Pending notices can be accepted.

Employers should be communicating with EU employees to remind them to register on the EUSS before the end of this month. Without proof of their registration to confirm their status after 1st July 2021, EU nationals will be considered as illegal workers. This puts businesses at risk of being non-compliant and in breach of UK immigration rules, which will lead to heavy fines and penalties.
