US President Biden lifts nationality-based travel bans
New US President Joseph R. Biden has lifted the nationality-based travel bans imposed by the previous administration. Although foreign nationals entering the US remain subject to national security checks and travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, US embassies and consulates will resume processing visa applications as soon as allowable.
In summary :
- Nationals of Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen are no longer be subject to the restrictions on non-immigrant and/or immigrant visa issuance.
- Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar (Burma), Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzanian nationals will no longer be subject to the immigrant visa restrictions and applications for permanent residence only.
Other travel restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
Additional entry requirements
In an effort to keep out a fast-moving new variant of the coronavirus, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the US will require a negative Covid-19 test result taken within 72 hours before arrival for all international arrivals.
